Sony (Japanese: Sony Corporation, English: Sony Corporation) is a global well-known large multinational corporation group in Japan. Headquartered in Konan 1-7-1, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
Sony is a world leader in the fields of audiovisual, video games, communications products and information technology. It is the pioneer of the world's earliest portable digital products. One of the six major movie companies in Hollywood, USA. Its brands include Xperia, Walkman, Sony music, Columbia Pictures, PlayStation, etc.
There used to be a vaio brand, but on February 6, 2014, Sony divested the VAIO business and the Vaio brand will be taken over and operated by Japan Industrial Partners Inc. 
From April 1, 2018, the current vice president and chief financial officer, Kenichiro Yoshida, was promoted to president, and the current president and CEO, Kazuo Hirai, has been appointed as the chairman of the board without corporate representation.
