MediaTek Inc. of Taiwan (MediaTek.Inc) is a world-renowned IC design manufacturer, focusing on wireless communication and digital multimedia technologies. It provides chip integration system solutions, including wireless communications, high-definition digital television, optical storage, DVD and Blu-ray and other related products.
MediaTek was established in 1997 and has been publicly listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Headquartered in Taiwan, China, and has sales or research and development teams in China, India, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates. In December 2014, Zhang Weili, General Manager of MediaTek China, stated that MediaTek will continue to work on 64-bit chips and will launch chips supporting VoLTE and six-mode chips supporting telecommunication 4G in due course next year. China ’s Taiwanese mobile phone chip maker MediaTek recently announced last year ’s revenue. In 2016, MediaTek's operating income reached NT $ 275.51 billion (about US $ 8.6 billion), a year-on-year increase of 29.2%. Analysts believe that such results are mainly due to the outstanding performance of domestic mobile phones, while MediaTek also expanded its share in the smart phone chip market.
On March 7, 2018, MediaTek announced that it will work with Tencent to set up an innovation laboratory to reach a strategic cooperation around the development and optimization of mobile games and other interactive entertainment products, and jointly explore the application of AI on the terminal side.
